Parking directions in Trieste
Whenever visiting any city or town with a car, then it is always recommended to check on the best places to park before leaving home, otherwise you could end up spending half of your trip driving around with nowhere to park. The best thing to do is, when booking your hotel, find out if they offer any kind of parking facilities for their guests – if they do, then try to make the use of it.
Parking at your hotel will save you a lot of time, hassle and money. Usually they either offer free parking facilities for guests or you will pay a small surcharge, included in the price of the room. If you choose to use one of the parking spaces in the city like Campo San Giacomo or the parking lot Silos in the city centre, then you will usually pay a few Euros per day.

Getting there and around
Because of its location in the north of Italy, Trieste is easily reached by car from other parts of the country and from various other places in Europe. If coming from Rome, then take the A1 and follow the signs for Trieste. If coming from Venice, then take the A4 and follow the signs for Trieste. Alternatively, if coming from Slovenia, then take the A1 and the E57 and follow the signs for Trieste. Depending on which part of Italy, or even which part of Europe you are coming from, it is best advised to check ahead of time, the best routes to take and of course, to keep yourself updated on the latest traffic announcements and warnings. Traffic towards Italy can be very busy during certain times of the year, and this can often result in long delays. So, it’s best to prepare for these ahead of time and, if possible, try to find alternative routes..

Trieste is a city full of beautiful buildings and has a very relaxed atmosphere. Some of the best places to visit in the city include, the Roman Theatre – a stunning piece of architecture, which dates back to 32 BC and was previously closed off by walls surrounding the theatre. Another fabulous place to visit in Trieste are the Caves. The caves cover and area of over 200km and boasts over 1500 caves, and includes the most famous tourist grotto in the world – Grotta Gigante
Often overlooked in favour of Trieste’s emblematic Castello di Miramare, the sturdy 15th-century Castello di San Giusto sits atop a strategic hill where it was built by Trieste’s Venetian rulers over older fortifications. The castle contains a recently renovated museum and armoury with a raft of exhibits, including suits of armour and other weapons. You can also wander around the walls and pop into the Lapidario Tergestino with its modest jumble of statuary and architectural fragments.
