Riezi is the capital of the province of Lazio, considered by many as the geographical center of Italy in the classical period.
Its origin dates back to the Iron Age and in its first centuries it was conquered by the Romans, the Visigoths and the Lombards. In the middle of it is the Basilica di Sant Agostino, one of the most important churches in the city and a national monument since 1902.It is located in the heart of Piazza Mazzini, very close to the Riezi train station and a few meters from the Palazzo Ricci. This trio of monuments make this area of the city the perfect starting point for your journey: it has our SABA parking lot, located in the surroundings of the basilica, to leave your car with the peace of mind that it will be safe during your journey.Continue your walk very close to there, in the Flavio Vespasian Communal Theater (the main theater of Rieti), which each year hosts different festivals of dancing, singing and acting, and a few meters further you will find the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, a minor basilica in the Romanesque style, built in 1157.If Riete has something it is an invaluable cultural heritage embodied in its historical and artistic museums, the monuments throughout its streets, the squares and the medieval arches that frame it, and the open and natural spaces that it has managed to integrate perfectly into its original architecture.
