The Teatro Flavio Vespasiano was built between 1883 and 1893 under the directing of the architect Achille Sfondrini, and it’s the main theatre of the city of Rieti.
It was built under the need to comply with the law that, in 1882, declared wooden theatres non-fitting for the public and that, furthermore, determined the Teatro dei Condomini's closure. It deserves a mentioning the original paintings on the dome by Giuseppe Casa who, following the 1889 earthquake which destroyed them, were substituted in 1901 by a work of Giulio Rolland. Said paintings depict the theme of Tito and Flavios triumph in Rome after Jerusalem's conquest. Located in the city center, the Teatro Flavio Vespasiano is near other points of interest for visitors, such as the Museo Civico (City Museum), inside the Town hall, Palazzo Vincentini, Palazzo Vecchiarelli. To enjoy Rieti's historic center through a single itinerary touching all these attractions, we advise you to park your car in the nearby parking lot in piazza Mazzini, the Oberdan-Mazzini parking lot.The city of Rieti To find a parking spot in Rieti may be a problem: to not waste time, find it with Saba, and fully enjoy the city.
