Milan is considered to be the Italian city of fashion and receives millions of tourists each year, who come not only to enjoy the shops and restaurants but also the city’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
The centre of Milan is where the city’s most important monuments are concentrated, and is therefore a must-see for any visitor. Here you can find the Royal Palace of Milan, the Church of San Maurizio adjoined to the Maggiore Monastery or the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio, among others. Near the centre, in the Ticinese neighbourhood, you will find a beautiful area of the city full of green spaces and even large artificial canals that function as a lake in the middle of the city. This area of Milan is a great place for admiring the sunset or enjoying a walk at noon. If you visit the Darsena (“dock of Milan”), at one end you’ll find the Porta Ticinese gate, a monumental stone building that historically served to identify one of the city’s six districts. The area also has the Basilica di San Calimero, a simple ecclesiastical building that is said to have more charm than any other in the zone. A few metres from this Basilica is the Andrea Ferrari square, where you can easily park your car at the Saba car park located in the square itself, open 24 hours a day and with the best facilities.
