The Renato Curi Stadium, originally called Stadio Comunale di Pian di Massiano (Pian di Massiano Municipal Stadium), is the structure that houses the in-house football matches of the Perugia football team.
It is located in the Pian di Massiano area, hence the old name Stadio Comunale di Pian di Massiano. Today it is called Stadio Renato Curi, in honour of the passed Renato Curi, Perugia's midfielder who died on this field on October 30th, 1977 because of a cardiac arrest during the Perugia � Juventus match. Near the structure there�s also a big parking lot, called Ripa di Meana, where it�s possible to leave the car. The Stadium was inaugurated in 1975 following the project of the engineer Luigi Corradi. The structure was completed in just four months. In fact, the Stadio Santa Giuliana, today used for athletics, was too small to house Serie A matches, given the team's promotion to the highest league. In 1983 the "Renato Curi" housed for the first time a match where the Italian national football team played. During the 1989-1990 season it also housed the Fiorentina football team, due to the Artemio Franchi Stadium being not fit to play in and being under renovations for the Italia '90 football world cup. Between 1998 and 2006 the "Renato Curi" too has been subjected to renovations: new areas under the West Gallery were built, CCTV surveillance has been installed, turnstiles were added at the entrances, and red seats were installed in every area of the Stadium.
