The city of Verona is a beautiful Italian town that is proud to have preserved the city’s medieval and historical character in its old town.
The houses, buildings and even the alleys in the centre of Verona are made of stone, and their walls tell the tale of the city’s history and culture that can still be felt today. In the centre of this old town is the great Verona Arena, a Roman amphitheatre made of pink and white limestone. This spectacular building is one of the most well-preserved Roman structures in all of Italy and, in addition to its historical value, is an important cultural attraction in the city since it regularly hosts concerts and shows thanks in part to its incredible acoustics. In addition to the Arena, in the centre of Verona you can visit the Palazzo della Gran Guardia - located inside the Arena - and the San Nicolò all’Arena Catholic Church, which can be accessed on the same street as the amphitheatre. From the Piazza Brà square, you can find an entrance to the amphitheatre, the Portini della Brà and the Torre Pentagona, a large medieval structure made up of two arches with an old clock in the centre. The best way to visit the centre of Verona is to go walking and exploring. The narrow pedestrian streets make it difficult to drive, so the best option is to park your car at a nearby car park and visit the area on foot. In front of the Verona Arena is a Saba car park, open to the public and available 24 hours a day.

Verona’s old town is one of the most beautiful and overwhelming in Italy. Its medieval appearance and style transports the visitor back in time to a different era. The Porta Borsari gate, the Verona Arena Amphitheatre and Juliet’s House are clear examples of the style and charm of the centre of Verona.
