The Pietra Bridge is located on the Adige river, in the center of Verona. The bridge is a white-marble arched structure (original parts) and red bricks (restored parts, faithful to the original design) that will take you along a pleasant walk from one river bank to the other, and by crossing it you’ll have the privilege of walking on the only Roman bridge still standing in the city.
The original structure, probably made with wood, is retraced back to the pre-Augustan period; today the bridge represents the most important public marble structure in the city. During the Roman period there were two bridges near the Roman theater: the Ponte Marmoreus (Stone Bridge) and the Ponte Postumius (Postumio Bridge). In the area between the two bridges and the theater, once the waters coming from the Postumio bridge were blocked, naval battle games were played. You’ll be able to fully enjoy the bridge’s beauty at night, when a tasteful lighting, mixed with the silence that will let you hear the water crashing on the pillars, offers an added value to the structure and the surrounding scenario, making it one of the most romantic spots in the city. To start this romantic walk in this suggestive setting you’ll just have to leave your car in one of the nearby parking lots available to you. You can choose the Arena parking lot, located in via M. Bentegodi, the Arsenale parking lot, in piazza Arsenale, or the Isolo parking lot, located in via Ponte Pignolo.

Verona’s old town is one of the most beautiful and overwhelming in Italy. Its medieval appearance and style transports the visitor back in time to a different era. The Porta Borsari gate, the Verona Arena Amphitheatre and Juliet’s House are clear examples of the style and charm of the centre of Verona. In order to see all the tourist attractions that Verona’s historic centre has to offer, we recommend using our Saba car parks, which are always located close to the city’s main points of interest and are open 24 hours a day.
